Back pain is one of the most common physical conditions that affects every human being at some point in life. Back pain can affect the upper, middle, or lower back and pain may travel through the hips and legs.

Pain can be sudden and last for just a few days, or prolonged and last for weeks or months. Alternatively back pain can be an intermittent reoccurring condition.

Causes of Back Pain

There are several causes of back pain.

  • A sudden impact due to an accident
  • Strain to upper or lower back
  • Poor posture
  • Lifting something heavy, bending forward, or sitting down for prolonged periods
  • Emotional imbalance

Back pain occurs unexpectedly at moments of tiredness or in stressful situations.  These are emotional reactions. We attack our movement psychologically and traumatise our body through guilt and self-punishment, creating immobilisation.

A reoccurring situation or a subject matter in life can trigger back pain. These pains cannot be healed unless emotional perceptions are resolved.

This kind of influence can stay with us for long periods of time and can trigger itself at any low point in life. In some cases back pain can continue where we become convinced that something is wrong with our spine.

Back pain can result from poor posture. We may not be conscious of the need to stretch the body back into its natural form - tension increases and pain begins.

Pain can just appear by itself, without any physical activity.

Understanding Back Pain

When no other treatment works for back pain, the only place that pain can be treated is through the mind. Back pain is simple to treat.

There are issues in life to which we unknowingly react. We have the ability to influence our self physically. An alternative instruction to the mind can alleviate this and rid us of this behaviour for good.

At The Mind Clinic individuals learn how to get rid of the pain through mind instruction coupled with breathing exercises. Gentle manipulation of muscles and nerves releases tension and eases the pain. Posture is corrected through breathing exercises and walking.

If an accident has occurred years previously, unbeknownst to us the injury site becomes an emotional weak point. Individuals are taught how to release the emotional connection with the back pain. This is achieved through counselling.

It is advisable not to let anyone manipulate or tamper with the spine to try to correct something that is not physically there.

The only place that back pain can be treated is through the mind.

Questions and Answers for Back Pain

Q. Why is it that when I have backache the pain runs into my leg?

A. At times incorrect posture causes back pain and creates tension in the main nerves that run through the hips into the legs. This stems from the lower back.

With such pressure, the nerves become inflamed and send shockwaves down the leg, causing further discomfort.

Posture must be corrected. The area of pain on top of the buttock must be gently and deeply massaged.  Although it may be a little painful, manipulation will move the inflamed nerve and allow the energy to flow freely, which releases tension.

Walk as much as possible to allow the energy to flow and for things to get back to normal.

If you are vulnerable to back problems it is important that you pay attention to maintaining strength and emotional stability.

Q. I keep having a reoccurring back pain below my shoulder. What can I do?

A. Often back pain is the result of tensions in the neck and shoulders. When there is such stiffness, it automatically runs down the back muscles, creating tension.

As we are totally unaware that this form of tension can cause restrictions in the back we interpret a situation created by neck position as back pain.

Sitting for long periods of time in awkward positions can easily create this kind of restriction.

It is important to pay attention to the neck and shoulder muscles by doing some neck exercises and rolling the shoulders. Stretch the spine to its upright position and breathe deeply to relax and release all tension.
