About Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

"When there is a strong connection to the past it influences all areas of life."

"When there is a strong connection to the past it influences all areas of life."

OCD is a condition that comes in many forms and affects people of all ages.

Every action becomes a ritualistic behaviour of repetition. We are trying to reach perfection that can never be attained.

Goals and objectives remain out of reach where our mind becomes completely absorbed in thought processes that revolve around the same issues.

In all cases of OCD beliefs are rigid and real. However, there is awareness that these thoughts and beliefs are unnatural.

There is the addiction element with OCD that preoccupies thoughts. The mind is extremely active and in a constant battle to see whether tasks are carried out satisfactorily and completely. This contributes to increased activity that is obsessive and compulsive.

Causes of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

OCD behaviour is a reflection of upbringing and experiences.  As OCD behaviour strengthens, our spirit weakens. As our spirit weakens, our body weakens. But in all OCD cases it is a preoccupation without anger or violence.

OCD is the result of a traumatic reaction to a situation where a domineering power takes over, creating restrictions and fears.

Uncertainty overrides everything that has been done. A feeling of guilt ensues whereby the person is always thinking that all that has been done is incomplete.

OCD creates a form of disability, restricting freedom in all aspects of life.

Understanding Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

At The Mind Clinic, OCD sufferers learn through guidance and counselling how to detach from cycles of stagnant thought processes. An understanding is reached through mind instruction.

Behaviour changes. Once one behavioural pattern is restored/altered, the others disappear.

As emotions have been undermined and suppressed in an abusive manner, individuals with OCD learn how to gauge emotions and understand about the sensitivities and strengths within them. The application of thought is extremely important.

Individuals learn to believe in their own natural ability. OCD is a behaviour that can be controlled and eliminated.

Questions and Answers for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

Q. I have been doing cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), which has helped a bit, but I still have OCD. How is this different?

A. The majority of OCD cases that attend The Mind Clinic have tried other therapies.

At The Mind Clinic we achieve results by bringing an understanding about the thought processes and not by attempting to control the behaviour. Once an understanding is reached the behaviour alters naturally.

Q. My daughter has severe OCD and is on high medication. Can this help her?

A. In severe OCD cases any form of prescribed medication deepens the weakness where the OCD develops into fear. The fear is exaggerated due to the uncertainty of the condition itself and the idea of withdrawing from high medication, where it is perceived that the situation will get worse.

Severe OCD that is over-medicated is more difficult to halt or eliminate owing to the high levels of fear and anxiety. Improvements can be less speedy to achieve than they should be.

Ultimately a final decision must be made to be willing to withdraw from prescribed medication so that the natural energy can begin to return.

At The Mind Clinic we provide a successful programme to avoid the discomfort of any side effects.
