"Depression is an important natural process that provides a connection to the mind."

Depression is an important part of human nature.  Nature itself goes through constant cycles of depression.

Everything that we do in life happens in cycles of sleep and awakening, activity and lull.

Depression can occur at any time in numerous ways, creating a range of reactions.

Understanding depression produces far greater benefits than accepting current perceptions about depression, which can easily cause further restrictions.

When we are faced with any difficulty in life, we all go through a process of depression. Depressions can range from mild and brief to severe and prolonged.

We are thrown into darkness, where everything becomes meaningless.

Emotions are an essential aspect of choices that are made, therefore they must be used effectively and with care to support our hopes and aspirations, to bring about the changes that are necessary for us to attain the objectives that we strive for.

A depression marks the end of a specific cycle in our life. A depression marks the the beginning of a new cycle that is waiting to arrive.

Causes of Depression

Mild Depression

The most common depression is due to atmospheric influences. When there are changes in nature’s atmosphere, because we are part of nature, some of us are influenced by these changes and naturally develop mild depression.

When our immediate surroundings and environment are not satisfying we will go into mild depression. This is a warning call by the mind to apply immediate changes so the depression cannot take hold. Applying positive thought can prevent mild depression from developing further.

Moderate Depression

Moderate depression relates to creativity that is not being expressed or unlocked. Where an understanding needs to be reached for imagination and creativity fully to be expressed and released, symptoms of depression can be prolonged.

Severe Depression

When the symptoms of depression are not resolved and understood they can easily turn into physical weakness and discomfort. Depressive feelings grow stronger; this influences physical behaviour and ultimately the physical self.

Bipolar Depression

Bipolar depression occurs when desires are not fulfilled so that the world around us becomes dark and change feels impossible. Because we take change as a threat to our comfort, we can develop fears and anxieties. Bipolar depression manifests according to the extremes of imagination the individual experiences and the speedy transitions that the mind goes through.

Postnatal Depression

Postnatal depression occurs after giving birth and is not a depression of darkness. Rather it is infused with negative emotion containing anger, rebellion and retaliation to all aspects of life. Postnatal depression is usually short-lived but in some cases can be prolonged.

Post-traumatic Depression

Post-traumatic depression demands a need for answers. One of the most common questions is “Why me?” Trauma usually influences the mind like a scratch that doesn’t heal until an answer, or an understanding towards a purpose, is found. It is that preoccupation of thought that keeps us in the dark with no resolution.

It is emotions that dominate during depression inflicting the mind, body and spirit.

Understanding Depression

At The Mind Clinic individuals are taught through counselling how to develop an understanding of depression, to discover the importance of depression and consider depression useful rather than destructive.

A depression is a key to opening up the mind, to be alerted to changes that are ahead.  The mind’s warning call is an extremely important part of existence, and should be treated with care and attention.

When individuals learn mind instruction, they discover the mind’s plan to move forward and reach its full potential.

Individuals come to understand the importance of creativity, imagination and the self.

Through re-education individuals learn how to use their imagination to progress through life and to achieve their objectives. They come to understand all their emotional influences, which need to be awakened rather than suppressed. Any form of chemical treatment suppresses the full energy of the mind, brain and body, which prevents the mind from thinking and reasoning.

As every one of us is unique, every depression is unique but the mechanics of any depression are the same.

All conditions in one form or another are brought on by depression.

Questions and Answers for Depression

Q. Is Depression a mental illness?

A. Unlike what it is perceived to be, depression is not a mental illness.

The mind reacts to your emotional perceptions, whether they are good or bad.

Depression is a situation where your emotions are such that balance needs to be restored. When emotions are out of control the mind influences the brain to shut down the body and alter behaviour.

Repetitive cycles of abnormal behaviour result in depression. The process of re-training and achieving understanding halts all forms of depression.

Mental Illness is a term that is completely unacceptable at The Mind Clinic.

Q. How long does it take to overcome depression?

A. The deepening of the depression is halted from the initial consultation.

Reversing the depression is more of an education towards understanding about the self rather than “treating depression”.

Usually two to three sessions are enough for your life to change completely. The timescale depends entirely on you, your willingness to work towards change, the urgency you experience and your need to recover.
